What do polka-dots, stripes, and metallics have in common? Well, not much — unless you’re browsing the brand new Marni for H&M collab that hit stores yesterday.
The irreverent Italian fashion house teamed up with the label-loving clothing giant to produce an affordable line of clothes and accessories for him and her. The collection launched yesterday in 260 H&M stores worldwide.
Marni is a bit of a cult favorite, known for their quirky prints and colorful statement accessories. The H&M line doesn’t disappoint: a dotted frock for her with nautical undertones of white, blue, and red; a metallic floral jumpsuit; and fun tribal-inspired bracelets in red, green, and white, rumored in the blogosphere to be the first items to sell out in stores. For him, tailored shirts galore in fun prints and preppy blues, paired with skinny ties and nubby sweaters.
The 100-piece collection includes apparel, shoes, handbags, and accessories for guys and gals — all priced below $200…a.k.a., a total steal.
The line hasn’t sold out yet (remember Versace for H&M mania earlier this year?) but some items have already started popping up on eBay — and you can believe they have inflated price-tags. Shoppers waited for more than two hours outside the brand’s flagship store on Fifth Avenue in NYC, according to Racked, but a two-of-each-item per customer limit prevented the store from being totally wiped out.
…which is a good thing, because we can’t get our hands on these fun frocks fast enough!
(And did we mention that the one and only Sofia Coppola directed the collection’s official commercial? Check out here — and prepare to hit “play again”: http://www.hm.com/us/marni#commercial/the_commercial )
