Recessionista: Jennifer Palmer
Owner, Isabella’s Cookie Company
Old Un-fun Job: Real estate agent.
New Fun Job: Founder and baker extraordinaire of Isabella’s Cookie Company.
Recessionista: From selling condos to selling cookies. That’s quite the leap! How and why did you make the “move” (sorry, we had to…)? Weren’t you scared?
Jennifer: I think that anyone starting their own company worries slightly about being successful. However, I soon realized that I had nothing to be nervous about due to the positive reaction I received for my baking. I was in real estate development for about seven years. But let’s be honest — I spent every free moment baking! I finally realized that my true calling was making cookies. So I left my full time job and poured all my savings into this new venture.
R: As founder of Isabella’s, what’s your day-to-day like? Because we picture loads of cookie dough…and we kinda like it.
J: My responsibilities entail overseeing the daily operations of the company, along with research and development of new recipes. (Editor’s note: jell-y!)
R: Did you come into baking later in life, or were you always a little cookie monster?
J: I developed my passion for baking cookies at a very young age. I spent all my free time in college in the kitchen and thrived on the happiness brought to others by my baking. After receiving such an overwhelmingly positive response, I decided to go for it and make baking cookies my full time career.
R: What’s your favorite treat to make at Isabella’s?
J: We offer a wide variety of all-natural cookies that are perfect for every occasion. Baked with real butter and no preservatives, they really will satisfy every sweet-tooth!
